GEREJA BLENDUK
This a place
which a old chruch legendary. Cause this is first catholic chruch in semarang
was built in year 1753. It one of old historic spots in the “old town” area.
Why we said “Old
Town”?
because this
place was reside in Old Town area, and guess what? Semarang is that have the
biggest “Old Town Area” which used Netherland old concept architect in
Indonesia. You know about jakarta? Capital city of Indonesia? Yeah they have
Old Town Area too, but not large than Semarang. So, then Semarang is capital of
province Central Java, and some information too Indonesia was have 33 provinces,
and we are one of them. Hey you know? if the most crowded place in indonesia
island is was any in JAVA ISLAND, dont ask why, cause the growth center of
indonesia was being in here, economy, politics ,etc.
Come back to Semarang..
, In the truth many building or housing
by people using old design structure any in here too, in Old Town Area. then
dont be surprised, if you ever visiting in here, and you see how beatiful it
is. Now, trully many building which old structure was sorrounding of “Gereja
Blenduk”. What do you want? Old builiding with nothing occupant (Vacant
Building)? or building still alive with society in there, you’ll nothing knowing
if you dont ever real visiting before.
“Gereja Blenduk”
is one of most intersting building was visiting by tourist maybe domestic and
International too, but if in the night likes Saturday night and Friday night or
holiday night many younger and adult was hangout and gathered in there maybe to
getting their moment with photo, you know sometimes this place was being to
photo hunting place too, likes model to taking photo in here. But if me.. i
think not, because my photo was bad eyecatching likes this..

Back to “Gereja Blenduk”
Why you must call this spot with
name “Gereja Blenduk” ?
You want to know about it?
Because in indonesian languange.
Chruch it was spell =
Gereja
And next “Blenduk” was from their
roof or chruch’s roof, you can see if the roof of it was likes semi-circle or
Half-circle , and then in indonesian language
"circle" = Lingkaran ,
and " half " =
setengah
So why not spell by “Gereja
Setengah Lingkaran” ?
No, because mayority people was
looking by how the shape of roof likes was, the roof is going expand to the top
(swall) , then the people was said that is “Mblenduk” and going to be “Blenduk”
to used in the name of the church, whatever the shape if swell it's will be said “Mblenduk”,
so dont wonder why.
the “Gereja Blenduk” was coming
to be historical place not only with that age of building, but the orisinil of interior and
eksterior was safed until now, so dont worry if you asking about the
orisinality of building, and then.. when you will start visiting us..?? hehe :D
